Sadly, Canada has lost it'd identity due to it's lax immigration policies. I am NOT racist. However, in the U.S.A. new citizens, for the most part, blend in with and adapt to what is seen as American culture. They embrace what it is to be American, their values etc. Here in Canada each new groups of people are not encouraged to adapt to what customs or values we have (had). The squeaky wheel gets the grease is a valid saying here. Our government lacks the backbone to stand up for any Canadian tradition. Example- East Indian RCMP allowed to wear turbans instead of the traditional head gear. What's with that? Muslims complaining about signs that say Merry Christmas because their beliefs about the origin of Christmas differs from ours.
Again, I am not racist. I just happen to believe that when our country adopts someone, gives them an opportunity to live in a place where they don't need to fear for their very lives, and that they are offered the same opportunities as naturalized citizens, that they should at least respect our traditions and customs.
I have no ill will towards immigrants, I think there is plenty of room here in Canada for everyone, but please respect our traditions as we respect yours.

the usa is like a big brother. canada wants to pretend that we are differnet, but in reality, we are very similar. we love american music, american sports, american food, etc.. canada seems to be a little more left politically.. canada is more open to cultural diversity and alternative lifestyles (ie LGBT). there really isn't a canadian identity. our big 3 cities are like any major city in the world. we have people from all over the world. we take pride in accepting and allowing people to be canadian, yet maintain their beliefs/values/religions from their mother country..
