I just had a baby 4 weeks ago. Anyhow I was wonder which kind of birth control is best. I was on the depo shot for 7 years before getting pregnant with my son. The only things I didn't like about the depo was I didn't have period the entire 7 years I was on it, it took me 6 months to a year to get my period to start again, and I gained a bunch of weight (which took me getting of the shot to lose). Anyhow I am thinking eventually in a year or two I may want another child and I don't really want to have wait the 6 months to a year for the shot to wear off when I make that decision. I also really don't gain a bunch of weight like I did on the depo.

Talk to your doctor about your concerns. He or she will be able to recommend the best options for your health and future concerns.

Congrats on the new baby!

I'm with a lot of the other posts....Nuvaring is great! I had a ton of side effects with everything else, but I've been taking nuvaring a year and a half and it has been wonderful. Another plus is that you don' t have to worry about antibiotics making it ineffective! Like the others said, you don't even feel it. I didn't believe that till I tried it. Even the first time I put it in I didn't feel anything (and tampons bother me). I kept checking just to make sure it was still there! It is great.

I use the Nuva Ring. I love it because I never can remember to take those damn pills....lol It's just a plastic ring that you insert and you wear it for 3 weeks, then you take it out for a week. That is the week you will be on your period. Then you insert another. I used to worry that my boyfriend would feel it during sex. But he couldn't. He didn't know it was there at all. It doesn't fall out and you can't really feel it either. I've put the website below if you want to look into it. Good luck.

I have tried everything and although the mirena IUD claims to be really effective, I got pregnant on it TWICE, and the way it works is it allows the egg to get fertalized then basically aborts it. The most effective thing I have found is to buy a fertility monitor and just use condoms when you are fertile. Whatever your choice, research how it works though, had I known then what I know now about the IUD I would have NEVER gotten one!

I was on the pill for a while but it was so inconvenient to have to remember to take it every morning, lug it around with me on vacation, and always worrying I'd forgotten to take it. So about a year ago I switched the Nuva Ring.
I love it! I cannot feel it, and neither can my partner, I still have my period every month but it's only about 2 days long, and I only have to think about my birth control once a month. I highly recommend it!

If you're not breastfeeding, you can try the Pill, but I think the IUD is a great method. The IUDs back in the 1970's were bad and dangerous things, but today's version is quite safe, quite effective and your fertility will be restored as soon as it's removed. Good luck to you and your baby.

I am on the Nuva Ring...It's very comfortable, and you dont even realize it's in there...you leave it in for 3 weeks, then take it out for a week, and thats when u get ur period...then after the week, it goes back in for another 3 weeks...and when and if you have sex, you cant even feel it in there, and you dont have to worry about it goin anywhere..I hope i helped ya..! Good luck with ur decision...And congratulations on the birth of your son....

The Mirena IUD is the only permanent birth control that will give you a 'rapid' return to fertility. I took mine out in December and was pregnant by January.

It depends on whether or not you are breastfeeding, and how badly you don't want to get pregnant
