every meter contains 1000 millimeters

(Latin again!)

:-)

so this says you have 3 meters and 547 millimeters....

so since there are 1000 millimeters (mm) in a meter, you have 3000 mm from the 3 meter part of the question and an additional 547 mm from the 2nd part.

Thus, 3000 + 547 or 3,547 mm.

Hope that helps!

(saw your milliliter question and was drawn to this one, too.)

Since 3 meters is equal to 3000 millimeters, 3m+547mm=3547mm or 3.547m.

1000mm=1m
therefore
3m*(1000mm/m)=3000mm
so 3000mm+547mm=3547mm=3.547m
