On countless occations I have heard people comment on this subject. People say that stay at home mothers are just looking for an excuse not to have "real" jobs. I for one believe that being a stay at home mom would have to be one of the hardest jobs ever. And if you have very young children who are not yet in school-even harder! I am very young, I don't have children, and I am still in school. But in the bad weather and school being cancled, I have stayed at home, and my parents have gone to work. Well, I have been cleaning for my mother, Ladies and gentleman let me tell you-the cleaning never stops! You can clean til your blue in the face and there will always be more! And imagine having children (I feel for you woman with kids-bless your souls) I just feel that stay-at-home-mothers need to stop getting talked about and start getting worshiped! It's tough-and if you deep clean-WOW! It goes on for days! Mommies-Keep up the good work and god help you-cause your gonna need it!Who agrees?

Thank you!!! I am a stay at home mom of 2 kids.I have nothing against moms who work. If you need it to make ends meet, then good for you. But as for me, it really wouldn't be worth working since the costs of child care, gas, taxes, and lack of tax breaks pretty much takes care of the wages that I would make. Besides, I love staying at home, and I also love to care for other people's kids in my home, (yes, moms who work) I look after your children!

Well you are a real sweet heart aren't you I hope my kids turn out like I use to work all the time but not any more I stay home with my kids, but I do much more than that I run for my dad on saturdays and I take my mom shopping to the grocery store and my fiance is never home so I am either cleaning the house taking care of kids from 7:00am to 10:30 pm and I am starting my own business of real estate investing and I am taking classes and I have to people also staying with temporarily and take care of all the meals and house work and laundry by myself. I don't ask for any help. And I really hate it cause my fiance makes the money know and I don't feel like I have controlling say anymore on what goes on cause he is the bread winner if you know what I mean. It is tough cause you don't get sick days like a real job. Or any vacation days. But my kids are worth it to be home with when they say I love you mommy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One need only look at how kids are turning out these days to know that stay at home moms would be a good thing. Yes, it is a difficult job at best. I don't know where people got the idea that raising kids is a part time deal. The realities of the world dictate that two incomes are often needed these days, but I think it is mostly because people want too many expensive things. You have to be licensed to drive, ..well hell you need licenses and permits to do most any thing, but not to have and raise kids. Yet all over the place there are groups touting "its for the children" What the children need is someone to teach them the things that they are not taught in school, and to bust their a ss when they do stupid stuff.

In some ways I think the mom's with husband work more for the fact to buy material things. Like designer shoes, clothes, electronics etc., And is a little envy of the moms that are fortunate to stay home and raise there children and other people kids. The mom's that don't have the second income work for survival, and make ends meet. I myself work and take my kid to daycare and was letting someone else to raise my kid, I finally got wise and retired from my job and now raising my own kids with LOVE plus my husband gets more loving then before because I not stress out, over work, unpaid! I work more at home and is appreciated for clean house, home cooked food and breakfast, lunches, and time to read a book or gardening, or just taking in a breath of fresh air. Just like the mom's in the good old days!

I am a stay at home mom of four- ages 7-2. It is very rewarding, but very tough. I remeber hearing on Dr. Phil that a stay at home mom works the equivalent of two full time jobs. Thats an 80 hour work week. And dont even get me started on the hours you'd work if one of your kids (or more) has a stomach bug in the middle of the night.
By the way, no, I don't get to sit around and watch Dr. Phil in the afternoon. I TiVo it. and watch it at night. right before I pass out from exhaustion :)

ok i agree that it is a hard job but as you said the cleaning never stops well now add a 8 or 9 hr job to that.. and now tell me who has it harder? i would love to stay at home with my kids i dont think it is easy at all but i have never had that choice. so my day has always consisted of having to be up at a certain time no matter if my kids were up all night or not. and work 8 or more hrs then come home and do everything that the stay at home mom does during the time im at work so i hate to sound mean but come on give us working moms the credit we deserve we do more in one day then stay at home moms do in 3... yea i know go ahead and give me the ole thumbs down i can take it but all you working moms know i am rite on this one.. i say stop complaining about cleaning house and be thanking God you can stay at home and watch your kids grow up.

If you are a stay at home mother, good for you, but if you are looking for more in life, than there is always oppertunity in the open world. There is no shame in being a stay at home mother. Kids tend to like their mothers better if they are "staying at home" studies say.
