It's okay to sleep with the TV on--I do it every night. The teas you should drink are Chamomile or Sleepytime. The warm bath about an hour before bed can help, and so can warm milk. The lavender candle or incense is very relaxing, and does help me get to sleep. Meditation clears the mind, and there are many books in the library on how to do it.

If you're 19, you can probably go to a free or sliding-scale clinic, or get medicaid to pay for the doctor. You can even get treated at the emergency room, and they will apply you for medicaid--they are not allowed to refuse treatment to anyone.

You're also old enough to try Melatonin--a sleeping supplement that helps people even with jet lag and rotating shift workers to sleep.

I use melatonin. It's cheap and available over the counter at any drug store or nutritional outlet. There are also other benefits from taking it including lower instances of some types of cancer.

I don't use the bed except for sleep and sex, so my body is trained, I take the melatonin about a half hour before bed and read for about 15, 20 minutes and I'm tired enough to sleep as soon as I turn the light off.

Having a TV on all night doesn't produce sound sleep, hope you're using a timer.

I went through a stretch where I was having difficulty sleeping. I took Tylenol Simply Sleep and it worked like magic-no hangover feeling in the morning, and no groogy feeling when taking it. Also, when I thought I would be able to sleep fine, I had no issues with coming off of it-it is non habit forming.

Try depriving yourself of sleep of more than a 24 hour period of time and goto bed at a normal time the following day.
DO NOT GOTO SLEEP DURING THIS PERIOD OF 24 HOURS OR IT WILL NOT WORK.
This is used by many modern clinics today to combat problems with sleep as well as depression but I would suggest reading up on it properly before you do it.
I have done it before and will do it again if I need to. Worked for me but I cant guarantee that it will work for you unless you try it.
DO NOT OPERATE MACHINERY, DRIVE OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT CAN ENDANGER YOU OR OTHERS DUE TO YOUR LACK OF SLEEP DURING THIS PERIOD OF TIME.
Try using a relaxation CD too before trying to get off to sleep as this often helps me too.

Good luck and sleep well soon!
