i don't know anything about the war in iraq and i really don't care. if ur not gonna answer my question, then don't write anything. I do my own homework but this project is rediculous and pointless. i have better things to do with my time and im tired of teachers giving me homework that they know has no point just so they can put down a grade and act like they're teaching me something. It's 11:35 PM and i want to go to bed, but this stupid project is due tomorrow and im not even close to done.

i think you need to read the newspapers and watch the news and write your own paragraph, It is not our job here to do your homework for you. And you will be much more satisfied with your grade knowing YOU earned it.

Hmm... here you go:
Most people do not know very much about the war in Iraq. In fact, I fact, I can't be bothered to do my own homework so I posted the question on Yahoo Answers. Unfortunately, some people who know little about the war in Iraq are over 18 and vote for people who also don't know about anything about the war in Iraq. There is a distinct possibility that someone may one day change the Q to an N and nobody will really notice. The end.

The war in Iraq is not a typical war. Most wars are fought over territory, or to defeat an enemy, or to defeat an ideology.
Viet Nam war was considered a quagmire and debacle, but at least there was a defined enemy: Communism.
In Iraq, we are not trying to take land, or defeat an ideology, or even a leader. We already got rid of Saddam, and yet we're still there, and will be there for a long time. With no defined enemy, or reason to be there, we are just sending young men and women to an aweful place to get shot at by snipers, or blown up by roadside bombs. Pointless and a disgrace.

the war in iraq can be aptly described as a civil war.
sectarian clashes are tearing the country apart and hundreds of people are dying daily.
the urgency to train the iraqi defence forces to combat these forces is becoming greater by the day.
with iran fomenting violence from the sidelines,it does not look like there will be an end to the war any time soon.
more than 3000 usa troops have died since the invasion to topple saddam in 2003.
estimates range into the hundreds of thousands for civillian and other casualties.
iraq cannot be glued together.the kurds the sunnis and the shiites need to be independent of one another, but this is unlikely to happen.
one thing is certain, their will be no" winners" in this now protracted war.

I think your teacher was hoping you would learn some facts instead of opinions about the war. It would make you one of about 300 Americans that know the facts not the opinions of the newscaster or the congressmen. Good luck! It is not as bad you you have been told.
