The Iraqis need to start defending themselves. The insurgents are still attacking our military because they know certain elements of the country will demand their return if the killing goes on for too long. If the Iraqi people would take care of themselves, the terrorists would eventually realize that the reward of controlling Iraq isn't worth the losses it would require to do so. That doesn't mean they'd give up, but it would sure help to stop a lot of the current violence. Who knows? Maybe Iraq's neighbors would catch on to the idea, and after a couple decades the entire Middle East would be extremely prosperous (to say nothing of wacko-free).

Well first, we need to know how much of the violence is sectarian (in country)and how much is the super freaks starting all the trouble.
You may have one group bombing mosques of all sects just to start trouble.
Once you show the people that the trouble is coming from outside of Iraq, things can change.
We need to nab Purr-tater-al-solder and let the Iraqi put him on trial Iraqi style.
Then put people to work. (Idle hands are the devils workshop.
Look to democrats for proof)
Then make sure our Military knows that if they are being shot at we will buy them a bullet to shoot back.
Then make sure that the whole world realizes that we are not at war, we are sacrificing to help out our good Buddy's in Iraq.
IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO HELP OUT THESE POOR FOLKS
Then get the oil flowing out and the cash flowing into the hands of the people in Iraq.
Let them see and feel the wealth.
THEN LET THEM BE !!!!
LET THEM BE SAFE !
LET THEM BE WARM !
LET THEM BE FULL OF FOOD !
If none of this works. Let them be stoned it seems to work for the Democrats.

The sectarian violence is coming from different "sects" in Iraq. There is no way the U.S. can patch up the differences in these people. It will continue and there is nothing we can do.

I can't say I know the answer to that, but the US is playing a major role. My family is out there for everyone in here that is ungreatful for their service. They believe what they are doing is right. I wish I had some good ideas, but not even congress can come up with any.
Watch and learn from this video broadcast from CN8 in New Jersey. It will shock you to find out where terrorists are being bred and where their money is coming from. This thing has a long way to go yet.

It can't be done without partitioning the country or exporting all Muslims to some other country that favors their particular branch of Islam or their tribe. Good, possible? Not without putting a repressive regime in charge to sit on top of the populace, uh, like what was already there.
