First try last good Conf from the boot options (F8 instead of F5)

If You dont still have a warranty But you still have the windows cd
Bootup from the cd and should bring up the installer.
In amongst the options when you go to install windows is a repair installion option which copies the files back from the cd over the top of the corrupt ones

If you bring it to the shop, the first thing they will tell you is that it is probably a software issue and those are not covered under ANY type of warranty.

They might be nice and run a system restore for you, but you can do that yourself. There should be directions that came with the machine on how to do it.

I would suggest doing it yourself and if it continues to have a problem, then you have a leg to stand on to say that it is not a software related issue.

What were you doing when the computer suddenly crashed?

its lucky its happened now rather than when the warranty has expired.Take it straight back to where you got it from....most decent laptop manufacturers will even arrange for the laptop to be collected from your home or place of work..good luck with it!
