The previous answerer is correct about Dunns River Falls. It is spectacular. If you like active excursions check out Chukka Cove which is nearby. They have ATV tours, cycle tours, horseback riding, a jungle canopy tour (I did this one last July) and more.
My wife and I also did some shopping near Ocho Rios and HATED it. Vendors are pushy, items are expensive and not of high quality.
There is a coffee plantation nearby (Jamaica makes the world's best coffee). You can also go to Bob Marley's former home and even meet his mother.
Check out TripAdvisor.com and look for the area's attractions there. Type in Ocho Rios in the search area and you can learn lots about what attractions and activities are nearby.

hands down Dunns River falls ... see below:
Dunn's River Falls
Jamaica's most famous visitor attraction is the stunning Dunn's River Falls and Beach.
Many visitors climb the waterfalls from the beach right to the top, stopping on the way to enjoy the cool plunge pools formed naturally in the river rocks and the waterfalls which are gentle in some places and positively thunder in others. When you get to the top, you will feel refreshed and invigorated.
Photographed millions of times, Dunn's River was prominently featured in the very first James Bond film, "Dr. No." Countless other film crews have followed the lead.
You may also make your visit a shopping excursion, as there is a large craft market with a great selection of locally produced items. What are you waiting for?
Call Dunn's River Falls at (876) 974 2857. Open 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. US$6 per adult, US$3 for children aged six to twelve. To avoid crowds, try to go on days when there are no cruise ships in Ocho Rios.

i replaced right into a company believer on doing my very own element to maintain money on my final cruise, yet except you relatively study It at times you may properly be relatively a great way far off from something to do different than walking off the deliver and getting hit via purely procuring. Carnival has lots of the shore excursions listed and that i might basically learn each and every person intently, so which you would be able to finances. working example we did inexpensive city excursions in some places, and you get a solid assessment of the Island. Then we chosen a zipper line trip in one place that replaced into spendy yet, worth each and every penny! It replaced into particularly a great way far off from the dock so we even have been given a city or section excursion besides.

Dunns River yes and also rafting on one of the rivers, James Bond beach is nice, Blue Lagoon is very beautifull, there is a party boat that will take you to Dunns River that is alot of fun for adults. I always like to take a day trip up to Nine Mile to see the Bob Marley home. Mama Marleys restaurant on main street can hook this up for you.
