The answer is zero, 1800 Jefferson tie with Aaron Burr, equal# electoral votes, 1820 Monroe, 1840 William H Harrison pneumonia, 1860 Lincoln shot, 1880 Garfield shot, 1900 McKinley shot, 1920 Harding food poisoning, possibly by his wife, 1940 Roosevelt, the shooter missed, so FDR kept getting re-elected until he died of old age, 1960 Kennedy shot, 1980 Reagan shot, they knew this was going to happen and they were ready, They all jumped on Hinckley as soon as they saw the gun, so he was only able to put 1 bullet in, came to 1 inch of his heart. Since W "won" in 2000 if he's still alive next inaugaration day, we can assume that Gore actually won Florida, but the republicans stopped the votes from being recounted.

Ah, yes, the so called twenty year jinx. Every president elected in a year ending in a zero has had something nasty happen to them. It could be said that President Reagan broke that jinx (but at the same time Alzheimers is a very nasty disease that no one should suffer from).
