If you were beat up at school...it should fall under the schools insurance, and check with a lawyer they usually do NOT take a fee outright for a conseltation, and some may even take your case with the fact you will sign a paper and give them so much of the money you would get from a settlement..contact a lawyer in your area that specializes in business/ accident law..at least i think that would be your best bet.
You can also go to civil court and sue the person who beat you up, and ask for your lost wages, medical bills and etc.
I hope to god you pressed charges on this guy, and he was arrested.
In the mean time research all you can to help yourself heal. Keep your head up right now your in a daze and everything looks bleak.
Oh one more thing while it is still fresh in your memeory write down the ENTIRE chain of events thta lead up to and the days after your beating it will help in court..keep a journal so you can recall dates and etc.. keep all Dr.s appointments and anything like that, your feelings, what happened in your life due to the circumstances everything..and still please talk to a couple of lawyers and see what you can do.

First off GET A GRIP ON YOURSELF. Things are never 100% bad. Eating is easy, straw and soup. It takes a little practice but can be done. Work you can still do as long as it does not require bending over, or a lot of talking. Put your thinking cap on, it does still work even thought your jaw may be messed up. Depending on your age , you should have some coverage through the school. Also a legal aid or even a law student should be free if you look around. Most of all just take time to regroup, things are not totally bad as long as you can think things through. Parents come in handy for those times, or a best friend or even a minister/priest/rabbi etc.

Don't worry about the medical bills. Try to find an advocate of some sort to hold the parents of the people who did this to you responsible or confront the school system-after all you are supposed to be protected there. It would cost you practically nothing to file a civil suit and you don't need a lawyer to do it.

If you cannot pay for it, the hospital should be able to work something out. There is medical assistance available, and most places will do payment plans or something. You did the right thing by having the surgery!

If someone beat you up at school then why aren't you going after them? All you would have to do is threaten them with legal action. Why didn't you press charges to begin with? This all sounds a little hinkey to me. Most hospitals will accept payments and why aren't you covered by your parent's insurance if you are still in school?

Most counties have social health programs that will cover medical costs for those who do not have income, or have low income. Contact your social services department for your county. Look in the yellow pages under "county" offices. If you can't find one that seems to be what you're looking for, the hospital can tell you where it is and/or what the phone # is.

you can set up a payment plan with the hospital. they will take as little as $10 a month. you may even get them to start you on a delayed payment plan. just call, and talk to the accounting dept.

call a lawyer and usually you don't pay unless they win the case, and they will tell you that straight up. and Your parents should know how to handle this situation, That is if this is for real. good luck.
