i have a fire safe. i lost my key i am able to open my with ease all you need is a thin blade or a really strong credit card. just slide it through the slot where the lock mechanism is. you might have to apply a little downward pressure to get the latch to move. i know this applies to the ones that open upwards anyway. like a fliptop

It sounds as if you're unlocking everything ok. When you feel the combination click and you've turned the handle, perhaps you could use a pry bar of some type to force the door. I've got a buddy that's a locksmith, if you'd like to send me the name of the safe manufacturer and any other info you have and I'll see if he can give me some advice. Don't attempt to shoot the lock off or torch thru as it probably won't work and would have disastrous results.

To open it, the locksmith will have to have proof of ownership and the owner must give his permission to open it. He can look at most safes and determine whether he'll have to pick the lock or make a key to fit it. If he finds the manufacturer's name, model and serial number, he can research the info and get the key code. Be prepared to pay about a $100 or so for the job.

you could drill it as suggested but you may want to stick with the locksmith first becuase if you drill it and the lock doesnt come out then you in a whole lot more trouble plus a locksmith probaly wont be able or willing to work on a lock that shows signs of tampering
