She won't let me. I am 13, and very self sufficient. I can take care of 4 cousins at one time, and I don't know why she won't let me, even for people I already know. Help, please!!!

All I can say is talk to her...What are her reasons for not wanting you to babysit...Try to find a babysitting program in your area so you can take the course...usually in these courses they teach the Heimlich maneuver, diaper changing and CPR so you will have a better resume when you are able to start taking jobs..
You are of age, but maybe mom has something on her mind...she must have a good reason...

Ask if you could babysit kids over at your house. Or, offer to be a mother's helper for someone else - you watch the kids while the parent is still home. It's a great way to get started. Try baby-sitting your little cousins when your mom or another adult is home. That way, you're not alone, and you can show her how responsible and caring you are. Offer to help out when the kids' parent(s) are home, and that way they can give positive feedback to your mom. Hope it works out! Good luck!

Maybe suggest to her that you take a babysitting course
that way she can see that you are serisous about babysitting and you will also beneft greatly by the course.

Try showing her you can be responsible...not only with children. When I was you're age I didn't want to babysit, but my Mom would always say "Oh, you're so helpful! You know..you'd be a great babysitter!" It bothered me so much! Show her you can be responsible, do you're chores when you're asked, parents love seeing that!

Most people want 16 year olds watching their kids so you may not be able to babysit anyway. Maybe she doesn't want anything to happen to you so that's why she doesn't want you babysitting.
