5 to 6 hours from las vegas strip. you can drive early morning and be back by 10pm. or if you have the budget, stay a night at Laughlin, NV. they usually have good hotel deals as low as $50/night.

Definitely go to the West Rim. It's about 2-3 hours. 14 miles or so is on dirt road, so be careful if you're driving a rental as it may be against the terms.

You'll end up on the Hualapai Indian reservation. Go to the airport (small planes and helicopters) to buy a ticket for entrance to the canyon. I think it cost something like $15 a head, maybe less. The edge is a two minute drive from there. The view is unrestricted and hasn't been very crowded the times I went. There are no guard rails, no park rangers, no informative maps staked into the ground, nothing. Just you and a canyon.

Maybe by the time you get there the Skywalk will be open. http://www.grandcanyonskywalk.com/

Another option would be to check out Grand Canyon West. Its closer than going to the "Grand Canyon". You still get to see the canyon but it is the West end of it. I think it would be about 2 hrs or so from Vegas. Vegas to the Grand Canyon National Park is about 4-5 hrs.

Well to get to phoenix it's about 3 hrs, so I believe it's around a 5-7 hr or more drive to the grand canyon. Check this site out and you can get very accurate directions to the g.c.

About 4-5 hrs. You can do it in a day. But id suggest you should stay some where to give time to rest. That's how long it takes me to get to Little Rock and St. Louis.

We did drive it in a day, and made several stops throughout the park. It was a long day, however. Don't plan to do anything else that day except for that trip. It was well worth the drive.
