Yes it's true for some but you can't make such broad generalizations like that. I know some Americans with poor hygiene that definitely do not represent all Americans. There are cultural differences and personal choices, you'll have to see for yourself.

I think that showers are more the rule for cleaning, rather than baths. However, yes, many of the European women don't shave their armpits, nor their legs. My German friend said she'd shave both areas when her husband did the same. I think she has a point!

I can speak for Germany it's true!!! Well, not all of them especially the young generation, but people I know at work (they're like engineers and lawyers!!) age 30 and up always shower once before they go to bed and just washing their face or shave in the morning and they told me their parents shower only every other day. I'm not sure about deodorant because they're wearing cologne but it's nightmare for me to share space with people in the buses or trains during summer... you can imagine cocktail of old sweat and cologne.. YUCK! Oh, not to mention if you have to shop in the supermarket...

When I first come to Germany I have seen more girls at the swimming pool wearing bikinis not shaving their armpits (they said it's NATURAL), but years later more and more girls shave (Thank God!)

PS. When I had problem with dry skin, my dermatologists told me to shower only once or twice a week instead of giving me good lotion! I changed dermatologist 6 times until I finally found foreign dermatologist and she gave good lotion.

Yeah... we also don't change our clothes, live in trees and we eat with our hands....oh and of course we never shave anything not just our armpits...Nothing. It's a way to stay warm when it's cold.
I guess we're following the styling and hygiene habits of YOUR country.

That's not true.
And it's wrong of you to stereotype.
My parents are European, as well as my relatives in Greece, and they are the most hygenic people you'll ever meet.
