Because in 2001 A-Rod was interviewed and said that the Yankees were loaded with superstars and that Deter Jeter was just one of the roll players. Other teams should not concern themselves with Jeter because he wasn't the key to the Yankees winning. It created a rift between them. They were best of friend until that statement was made. Jeter has never really gotten over what was said and has pretty much kept his distance from A-Rod ever since.

They were best friends in the 90's then Esquire Mag,Gave an interview with Arod,In the interview Arod said,,Jeter was not a lead off hitter and Jeter had a great lineup behind him,This Stung Jeter pretty hard,And his relationship was Arod cooled!!

No Jeter is the captain and cant work with a rich loser who cant produce and step up to the plate that is why they aint friends/ + no rings but this year that will change with the yankees winning the WS their first since 2000 they will beat the cubs 4-3 for the series but it wil be a close one
Futhermore the New York Jets will win their 2nd superbowl their first since SBIII they will beat the Saints 690-0.
Then the Dallas Mavs will win their first Finals since ever beating the New York Knicks in a blowout series 4-0

They are still friends.
The are just two different people. Jeter is a motivated go getter who is used to winning and strives to be the best he can be at all time.
A-Rod is content with his current ability and rarely pushes himself to be better.
Jeter wants this guy to takeit to another level. And they just don't see eye to eye on that.

I never knew they were best friends. In fact, I can't tell you the best friends of any person I don't know.

IT GOES BACK TO AN ISSUE OF ESQUIRE MAGAZINE IN WHICH DURING AN INTERVIEW A-ROD SAID THAT JETER
WASN'T THAT GREAT & ONLY LOOKED GOOD BECAUSE OF HIS TEAMMATES.
