You really have to specify before or after the plague. This is vital, because nearly everything after the plague is a display of the macabre and morbid. The artists seemed to have become infatuated with death and even corpses as the "Dance of Death" clearly illustrates. Prior to the plague, art was typically produced with a religous intent.
