An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.

This issue can be caused by two problems. Either:

a) you are not entering the address, port, or instance name correctly. Make sure that all of your connection settings to the SQL Server are exactly correct.

b) If you have control over the SQL Server, then open the Surface Area Configuration and go to your instance of SQL Server under Services and Connections. Set the options on Database Engine remote connections to enable remote connections. Otherwise, you'll need to notify your host or DBA of the issue.

This is not your problem. You have to talk to the server / DB administrator which hosts the SQL Server 2005.

This error is usually detailed by: provider: Named pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server - Microsoft SQL Server , Error: 53

Thank You.
