climax is basically the high point in the book

A book critique dissects the book, focusing on its good points and bad points. You are playing a critic to a book versus a movie. Kinda like telling a smart friend the ins and outs of the book. What was the best part? The climax? The part that could have used some improvement?

resolution is when everything is solved

Definitions of climax on the Web:

the highest point of anything conceived of as growing or developing or unfolding; "the climax of the artist's career"; "in the flood tide of his success"
the decisive moment in a novel or play; "the deathbed scene is the climax of the play"
orgasm: the moment of most intense pleasure in sexual intercourse
the most severe stage of a disease
arrangement of clauses in ascending order of forcefulness
culminate: end, especially to reach a final or climactic stage; "The meeting culminated in a tearful embrace"

Definitions of critique on the Web:

review: an essay or article that gives a critical evaluation (as of a book or play)
review: appraise critically; "She reviews books for the New York Times"; "Please critique this performance"
criticism: a serious examination and judgment of something; "constructive criticism is always appreciated"

so a book critique is an essay on a book that gives an evaluation

Definitions of resolution on the Web:

a formal expression by a meeting; agreed to by a vote
resolving power: the ability of a microscope or telescope to measure the angular separation of images that are close together
resoluteness: the trait of being resolute; "his resoluteness carried him through the battle"; "it was his unshakeable resolution to finish the work"
finding a solution to a problem
settlement: something settled or resolved; the outcome of decision making; "the finally reached a settlement with the union"; "they never did achieve a final resolution of their differences"; "he needed to grieve before he could achieve a sense of closure"
analysis into clear-cut components
(computer science) the number of pixels per square inch on a computer-generated display; the greater the resolution, the better the picture
the subsidence of swelling or other signs of inflammation (especially in a lung)
(music) a dissonant chord is followed by a consonant chord
solution: a statement that solves a problem or explains how to solve the problem; "they were trying to find a peaceful solution"; "the answers were in the back of the book"; "he computed the result to four decimal places"
a decision to do something or to behave in a certain manner; "he always wrote down his New Year's resolutions"

Ok, the climax is the make it or break it point of the story. It is were the character makes a decision that brings about their fate. AKA the highest point of the story.

A book critique dissects the book, focusing on its good points and bad points. You are playing a critic to a book versus a movie. Kinda like telling a smart friend the ins and outs of the book. What was the best part? The climax? The part that could have used some improvement? SO on. . .

The resolution is where the story is closed up. The conflict has been resolved and you are getting the closing details of the story.

Hope that helps!
