Well, if you are not going to use the machine for much more than what you are explaining, you could do a quick upgrade for not much money.

The processor you are speaking of is most likely the Socket A variety. This processor socket supports a wide range of processor speeds. You could go buy an Athlon XP processor for really cheap. We are talking around 15-40 bucks assuming your motherboard will support it.

If it is not socket A, then it is Slot A and you do not have many options for simply upgrading the processor. A slot processor will be standing up off the motherboard as opposed to lying down pretty much flat with the socket A.

You could then add another memory stick. Sdram is really cheap these days. You could add a 512 stick of ram for 20-30 bucks.

These two upgrades would do you a lot of good. Again, that is assuming your motherboard will support the ugrades. I would need to know what kind of computer you had before I could give you a more accurate suggestion.

It's hard to say without knowing what motherboard is in the computer or the make and model number. With this info you can determine how much and what type of RAM your system can handle, what is the max speed for the cpu in the system, what video bus is available etc. But truthfully you are probably at the point that you cost to benefit ration is so slim you are better off with a new system. Don't spend more than a $100 dollars upgrading the video or RAM.. especially since you can get a new system that would blow this one away for under $400.

I'd start with a bare case. 30GB hard drive is adequate. A new motherboard and processor would be next.
