They are designed for the pressure of a finger. You would need something that covers about a quarter of a square cm, and somewhat soft.

I would just go and get a normal mouse to plug into the usb port on your laptop.

Laptop touchpads use the difference in capacitance that your finger produces when you touch it to the pad to move the mouse. That is why most things that are non-conductive such as a pencil eraser do not work.

Do you meant the touchpad or the touch screen?

You could use your fingers and point if your laptop supports touchscreen.

Other than that, use a normal USB mouse to navigate, buy a tablet to move the pointer by a pen or use your phone as a mouse pointer (some models only).

I have a laptop, and have never been able to manipulate that finger pad..it's so difficult! I bought a mouse that plugs into my usb port, yay! just like a desktop. Mine cost 10 bucks, but there are several alternatives that cost a little bit more that are 'wireless' too...check out walmart if you have one where you live :]

You can hook up a regular mouse if you want. But as far as moving the cursor with anything other than your finger on the touchpad, I don't think anything else will work.

I am assuming you are referring to the touch pad on your laptop... you could try a stylus pen but I'm not sure if that would work.. me I ignore my touch pad and use a nice wireless mouse.

Do not use pancils and other stuff...It will destroy the pad. Invest in a wireless mouse.
