There are so many conflicting races with centuries old feuds among the Arab nations that they could never unite. If they tried to unite, they might survive under a powerful ruler, but once he is dead, they would fall apart. An example is Yugoslavia. The European powers assumed that all of the Balkan peoples were essentially the same and united them into Yugoslavia after WWI. There was much unrest and when WWII came along, the country broke apart. It was reunited by Josip Broz Tito. When he died in 1980, the country broke up into 6 others based on the many different ethnic and religious groups of the region. Arabs are not all the same and therefore can not be united.

Because the rest of the world won't let that happen. They would find this to be a big threat. Just imagine, this is the reason Israel became established as a Jewish state. To be a small branch of US and British forces. Think like this- if they were United, the price of oil would be $500.oo a barrell, rather than 40, 50, or even 60 dollars. US promotes competition, that's why US is full of Japanese cars, while the American Auto industry is suffering so bad.

First I'm Jewish so I admit my answer might be colored by my religious faith. I think that unfortunately the one thing that unifies most Arab countries is anti semitism. Europe used anti semitism too as a method to find common ground with their neighbors but it too failed.

Oh one of my grandfathers recently read an article that was in a Spanish newspaper. It lamented the Holocaust and the elimination of the vast majority of european Jews. Those who did not die relocated to other countries; Israel, USA South America, Australia; South Africa. The article said the Jews brought education and culture to the places they lived. Now they are gone and in their place are millions of Muslims who refuse to integrate and want Jihad and Sharia Law to engulf Europe.

Thats like asking why are all white people not one unity.

It assumes all arabs are the same when there are vast differences, politics, beliefs and many other variables overlooked by your question's essential assumptions.

one- most people think that everyone from the middle east is an arab. they're not. so this could influence why not all 'arabs' are united

two- they have philosophically differences. some actually want to be a bit more modern. other intrepret the Koran differently.

Bottom line: The different sects can't even stop killing each other within their own countries. How could anyone expect that different countries could even begin to unite?

After WW I, UK & France carved them up. There have been periodic attemps to unify a few of them, but no head of state wants to relinquish power. Arabs have no history of national identities, only clan identities.
