Charles is out with all of his scandals and William looks like he's 1st in line but a combat veteran as a royal carries some WEIGHT. Especially after they stage some heroic situation for him. Your thoughts?

Unfortunately for him, his only real 'move' for the throne would be to kill the queen, charles, and then william before he has any children.

He can not. The throne of Great Britain is hereditary, and he is third in line to inherit it; only after Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and Prince William have all died or abdicated would Prince Harry (real name Henry) become King Henry IX. Additionally, British law prohibits the heir (William) from serving in a combat zone such as Iraq, so it would not follow that, should Harry become a war hero, he would then supersede William who was not legally permitted to serve in the same capacity!
Addendum: If Prince William were to have legitimate children, they would all precede Prince Harry in the lineage.

Lynci is not quite correct - Edward, Prince of Wales served in France during WWI, though apparently neither he, nor the present Duke of York in the Falklands War, were placed in harm's way as readily as other soldiers/sailors. I doubt Harry will be given the most dangerous assignments available, but even if he were and won the VC for bravery, it would not change the fact that he cannot be king unless something happens to William and any future children. He understands that.

I can't guess about a "play for the throne", but I can tell you this: The day he sets foot on the battlefield, he will have more military experience than all the clowns in the US and UK governments who started the war *combined*.

MAYBE HE Ä°S DOÄ°NG THE RÄ°GHT THING BEING AWAY FROM ALL THAT ROYALTY STIFFNESS. I GUESS HE WOULD TRIBUTE HIS HEROICNESS TO HIS MOTHER.

CHARLES MAY HAD ENOUGH OF WAÄ°TÄ°NG FOR HIS TURN TO COME .I THINK HE WILL NEVER BE THE KING , WHEN ITS THE RIGHT TIME HE WILL BE HANDING OVER THE THRONE TO WILLIAM. AND I HOPE WILLIAM WOULD HAVE THE SAME HUMANLY VALUES THAT HIS MOTHER HAD.

Nonsense! He is third in line, and he can't change that.

That's the way it was, the way it is, and the way it will be. Until Charles becomes king, or Wills marries and has a child.

No, he's doing what second sons in the Royal Family typically do. That doesn't make it any less brave, of course. I have a lot of respect for him.

I don't think he wants it. He's happy he's the spare & not the heir.
