Here's a few lesser thought about romance movies:
Casablanca, it's a classic!
An Affair to Remember, another classic.
Pride and Prejudice
The Illusionist
Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera
The Princess Bride
Les Miserables
Casanova
Tristan and Isolde
The Scarlett Letter
Shakespeare in Love
Enjoy!

The Notebook is a gorgeous movie. Its so romantic, and also a beautiful story. My boyfriend enjoyed it too, and as a guy does- he normally hates romantic movies, but loved this one. The Notebook is my favourite romantic story of all time.

Newer Movie: So many to list, but I'd have to go with either
