Like who? Gays? Atheists? Illegal immigrants?
THE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS IN THIS COUNTRY IS ASTOUNDING!!!!!
As long as you don't take shots against America (like "no war, no violence, no imperialism), YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SAY WHATEVER THE F..K YOU WANT!!!!!

NO! The U.S. Constitution guarantees everyone the freedom of speech. The Constitution does not allow any exceptions. That is the reason no hate speech bills should ever become law!
If we had hate speech laws, every word or expression could eventually be considered hate speech by someone or some group of people, or religion. Then each one of us would have to worry about every word we spoke, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, that someone would turn us in to the police for hate speech. Then you would have to pay a heavy fine that probably would bankrupt you, and/or prison time, and eventually the law could lead to mass executions. Does this sound like a United States of America, that you would like to live in? I know I do not!

The first amendment to the Constitution which protects our rights to free speech covers almost all types of expression. The Supreme Court has even ruled that flag burning is a form of freedom of speech, so it definitely is not going to rule against words that simply offend someone. Additionally, what offends one person is not necessarily going to be judged offensive by someone else. Thankfully, the designers of our Constitution chose to ensure broadly our rights of expression!!

If somebody's freedom to speak what they believe offends me, I am not forced to continue to listen to them. I can walk away, turn off the television or radio, put in earplugs, or, radical notion though it may be, speak my alternative viewpoint.
Freedom of speech is FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Regardless of whether or not I like what the other person says, they have the right to say it.

You might actually say that freedom of speech BEGINS when it offends someone.

No. Quite a bit of what is said these days offends somebody, somewhere. When the speech incites harmful actions is when it should be stopped. Encouraging somebody to hurt somebody, or yelling "fire" in a movie theatre.
When you think about it,only speech that simply states facts (the shirt is red...) is not offensive to somebody. Everything else that is said can cause offense, disagreement...etc.

It is impossible not to offend someone much of the time because people have such extreme, easily offended, polarized positions. Still, I believe that there should be limits of some kind. It is hard to say where to draw the line, though.

No that is why it is "Freedom" of Speech. Not Freedom "Not to Be Offended. "

No. It should end when it interferes with someone else's Rights. Merely being offended is too low a bar.

Absolutely not. I don't care if it offends someone who's too weak to tolerate anything. They should just get over it, because I am not going to court for some soft guy who tries to sue me because I said "fat people".

You can please some people some of the time , but you can't please all the people all the people all the time .
All these many years , that we have fought for our freedom of speech , today we have two many people with thin skin . They're only words , get over it .
