I am "straight as an arrow" but whenever I have some troubling concerns I always talk with my gay friends (including lesbians)...

hmm... well this could be fer a few reasons.
1) u jus do feel more comfortable talking with them bout anything (there doesn't always have to be a reason).
2) maybe u know deep down that they won't judge you so u feel safe talking bout anything with them
3) [not in yer case] u could be bi-curious or bi. [but u said u were str8 so i'll take yer word fer it]
4) maybe u jus like talking to them bout this stuff...only u can decide whut tha real reason is tho.

Most of my friends have always been gay, both male and female, and I'm happily married. I still find it easier to talk about a lot of my problems with my gay friends. Guess it's because they are less judgemental in certain ways, especially when it comes to relationships. There really isn't anything different about them, they are people like everyone else, but, I guess like you, I just gravitate to some people with a certain openness about themselves that I don't necessarily think is in a lot of straight people. Don't let anyone say you are in the closet, you aren't. It's just how you relate. Don't change, it's a gift.

I'm straight too (maybe not as an arrow, but I'm straight) and I know what you mean. I think what people are saying for other answers is right, though -- they are typically just understanding and non-judgmental, so it's easier for them to empathize with you about your problems and maybe give you more sincere feedback. Personally I love my gays. They're always there for me.

Peace

I have felt the same way at times. The gay/bi/lesbian people I know are just more open minded than my straight friends, and they have been through A LOT so they usually know exactly how I feel.

Mostl becuase you're open minded enough to speak as an adult to other adults... and we have straight friends, family and coworkers... so non-judgementality is the operative mode here.

Well ok - I am non-judgemental of others EXCEPT board trolls, bigots and homophobes.

Because we have a greater view of the world and humanity than do many straight people.

Experience has taught us compassion, sympathy, and empathy.

Its just who you are, perhaps you feel comfortable talking to gay people because they know how to help and will be direct and tell you the truth

because they're a lot more understanding, since they go through more trouble and harrassment than straights.

I know me too. They are more understanding and they actually listen.

Because often they are more understanding from their own troubles and ect. ect.
