Audio Device in my laptop is not recognized. what should I do?

My laptop (inspiron running XP) does not recognize the audio device anymore. This happened suddenly as everything was working fine before. The weird thing though is that i can listen to music and sound from movies from winamp and windows media player BUT I can no longer hear any songs from firefox ( when using Youtube etc...). What should I do? It's clear that the audio device itself is fine. Thanks

To add what I said, I went to the device manager and there is NO yellow or red signals. all seems fine from that side.

Not a bad idea to go to start and right click my computer go to properties and click on hardware tab... look for device manager and look to see if audio has a yellow or red mark by it if so right click and reinstall drivers...
If not try you tube with IE if that works simply raise volume in firefox or reinstall either way you will be fixed up...
