i had that problem for a while too,
instead of being bored while waiting 3 years for me to be old enough,
i offered to walk a few dogs around my neighbourhood,
i charged around 5$ an hour,
and all proceeds were donated to the animal shelter.
when you're old enough to apply to volounteer at the animal shelter,
you'll have tons of expierience, and the animal shelter will like that.
they'll also like that you donated to them, and helped out animals in need.
an other option is to petsit for people who go away on vacation [spring break, christmas and summer get tons of cumtomers]
if you put up nice posters, and send flyers in the mail..
you'll be getting phone calls in no time.

Best of luck

There are many animal shelters and humane societies that have volunteer programs for children. I'd check with your local shelters and vets to see what you can work out. I bet you will find a great place to volunteer but be real persistant to get in, then dedicated once you start.

Where's the question? How old are you anyway? Volunteer with an elderly or disabled person to walk their dog after school or on weekends, help them bathe their dog in good weather, or pet sit for someone for the weekend while they go away, if your parents agree, this way you learn about pet responsibility and help your neighbors who need an extra hand, they'll appreciate you for it and you'll make more friends.

i would say it is very hard thing to do. my friend also loved animals and worked at an animal shelter when she was younger. she could not stand when they were put down. you need to think about that before you go there. also all you are going to be doing is cleaning up their shite. it is not exactly going to be a fun thing to do.

all that aside it is a very noble thing. i applaud you for that. my friend got over issues with them being put down. she eventually assisted with it.
