Did she use the whole retiring angle as a way to leave the company due to this split from Edge?

Nope.Lita left of her own accord - she actually turned down a new contract to stay on.Her knee injury she got against Trish never heeled 100% which was why she never wrestled on a regular basis when she came back.She didn't want to risk permanent damage.
Also she was getting real-life hassle from fans over the Edge & Matt thing.She was caught in the middle apparently & getting abuse at the WWE events & away from the ring.Basically she had enough of it.
She wants to continue with her rock band The Luchagors - they have a record deal btw.She's moved to Atlanta, Ga where she's taking acting lessons & doing theater work as well.
I think with Lita's outside interests, it was a case of WWE needing Lita more than the other way round.

I think it's a shame that she left, because as far as her wrestling ability goes, she was always one of the best women in the WWE.
I'm not suprised she got fed up with all the crap she was getting off the fans, but if you're gonna play away from home then you have to pay the consequences I guess!
And yes she DID cheat on Matt Hardy with Edge, it wasn't just a WWE storyline! The WWE had no choice but to make the real life goings on part of the storyline after Matt broadcast what had happened on his personal website, and both Edge and Lita started to get heat from the fans, so the WWE wrote a whole storyline about them becoming a couple.
Silly girl, but I hope she does well with her band and whatever else she chooses to do now!

"abyamcha" was right. It wasnt the Edge thing or the Matt Hardy thing directly as much as the whole work situation was unenjoyable. I think it bothered her that the fans would always boo her. She was a face her entire career until the edge thing. She wasnt being used well creatively in wwe either. She didnt retire, she still wrestles, just mostly in UWF. Also she never actually had a relationship with Edge so there wasnt really a split. They had casual sex, got caught, and then stopped.

In a way yes. The day after her retirement, Lita stated, on WWE.com, that her plans to retire began around mid-2005, when the feud between Edge and Matt Hardy was at its height. Because of her involvement in the feud, the harassment she received from some fans was so strong that she felt as if "even when [she] was walking the dog there was going to be someone yelling 'You screwed Matt!' out the window". Eventually, she became so fed up with the mistreatment she was receiving from these fans, she decided that the only way to avoid such harassment was to retire altogether. She states her plans to further her involvement with her band, The Luchagors, and to act in theatre productions.

I doubt it. She didn't leave after her and Hardy broke up due to her affair with Edge.

im confused about it. she just left i think there was no story line between her and edge splitting up she jus left and edge totally 4got about her lol.

I highly doubt that, have you not really been looking closely ever since she went heel. Everyone was so freaking rude to her, called her a ho got in HER PERSONAL BUSINESS! Honestly I'm surprised she didnt leave sooner.
