I love that name! However, I have more often seen it spelled, Marissa, with a double 's', to rhyme with miss-a...
I had a student named Marisa, but her name was pronounced Ma-ree-sa...

I think Marisa is a pretty name. That's actually my sisters name but she spells it Marissa.

When it comes to picking a baby name, I think you really need to follow your own heart. If you like, I say use that name. You'll be saying the name for the rest of your life, so you should choose what you like, not what someone else says. Not everyone will like the same names as you.
