hi its my first pregnancy and i was just wondering what happend to u.? did u wait for a while befor cutting the cord ? dose it even matter?
here in egypt where i live they dont do cord blood banking.. so i was wondering if i should just wait a little and help the blood in the cord go down into baby befor cutting it.?
do u know whats right to do ... what did your doctor do..
i want to know to be sure my baby gets what he needs.. thank u all

Yes it matters quite a bit if you have the RH factor. It can cause the baby to get a surge of blood cells if you cut to soon. At my birth we waited until the cord completely stopped pulsing before cutting it. It also ruduces the baby's chances for jaundice. Good luck!

I told the doctor to wait to cut the cord until it stopped pulsating. It's good for the baby to get that last bit of cord blood. reduces the chance of jaundice too.

After my little boy was born, everything is a little blurry...but I'm pretty sure they cut the cord as soon as the baby was delivered so they could lay him on me. I'd say within 15 minutes for sure. Then after a little time with the baby, I "delivered" the placenta and got a cool biology lesson on the placenta and it's components. Once it's cut, it's job is done, so it "dies".
