more upfront about the chances of having a c-section when being induced. It seems that everyone that I talk to or hear about when they are induced have c-sections. It's probably about a ten to one chance if I take the ratio of stories that I've heard and experienced.

I was scheduled to be induced but 2 hours before I was supposed to go to the hospital I was called by my doctor saying that he looked at the ultrasound and the baby might be big and he suggested a c-section. The bad thing was, one of the other doctors in the practice had done the ultrasound and knew he was potentially big, but never mentioned there would be a chance of a c-section. I was devastated and not prepared. For my baby's safety I went with the c-section.

I was induced at 39 week (elective) and I delivered vaginally within 4 hours with only 3 pushes. My sister was induced with both her boys and delivered both vaginal. I know of at least 2 of my friend that were induced and both delivered vaginally as well. It might just be the people you've talked to. I do agree though that doctor's should fully explain to patients that it's always possible they may need to have a c-section...my doctor told me this, but I still wanted to be induced. I'm curious to see how others respond as well.

I was already starting labor on my own and the doctor went a head and had me induced and not long after he decided that is was not going as he would like and I ended up having a c-section and now they wont even let me try to have a normal delivery and it really hurts to know that I will never have the change to give it a try.

My labor was induced at 36 weeks, and my son was born (vag) just after the doctor suggested doing a c-section if he didn't turn and drop. He turned, engaged, and was out with 3 good pushes.

I was going to be induced at 10 days overdue, but during a last minute ultrasound to check the position, they discovered that I was right when I told them he wasn't laying properly. My son was frank breech, which his arms and feet over his head. My dr. said it wasn't safe to deliver like that, so we scheduled a cesarean instead.

Buy my sister-in-law's ex sister-in-law (that sounds funny, doesn't it) was induced, and she delivered vaginally. I don't think anyone else I know was induced.

well....look at it this way. when you induce labor, and you are not full term, the only you are gonna get that baby out is by going in and getting it. it's just one of those things. and shame on any doctor for not explaining this. if you are full term and dialating properly, then no c-section is necessary. but if you are not full term, you will end up laboring too long which can cause risks to you and your baby.
