I need writers of some famous (or not so famous) poems or short stories.

Poet: Banjo Patterson. Australian. He's most famous for the poem Man From Snowy River, but he's got several hundred more. Many are just as good. Amazon has one of his books.
Short stories. Poe is good of course, but for keeping a young person's interest, try Louis L'Amour. Lots of action, easy plot, likeable and honorable heros, and the good guy wins. You can't get better than that. Available anywhere. Libraries, books stores, Walmart.

I love Edgar Allan Poe! My favorite poem is The Conqueror Worm and my favorite story is The Oval Portrait, I also love Silence, A Fable. But like I said I love them all.

T.S. Eliot, The Wastelands, The Journey of the Magi, or The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrect.
He also wrote The old possums book of practical cats which was made into Cats the musical. As much as i hate "Cats" the book is amusing.
