eat low carbs / high protein , exercise daily-cardio,weights and core exercises worked for me , but ts important that you commit and keep on top of the way you eat and don't miss working out!!!!!!!

i was a competitive figure skater for a very long time and strong abs are very important. i found that what worked best for me(because i had a severe back injury) was using an exercise ball. you can start doing regular crunches and then work it up to where you hold some weights, also a lot of obliques .

this website has some good exercises that ik work from experience

http://exercise.about.com/od/abs/ss/abexercises.htm

but it isn't easy and you are really going to have to be diligent if you really want it
good luck , hope that helped

The answer to this question depends largely on your body type. Do you have a flat stomach already? Are your abdominal muscles already well developed? OR Do you have fat that needs to be lost before toning the muscles will be necessary or beneficial?

If you are the first body type, the change needs to be in your diet and in your commitment to exercise. Eat fruits and veggies to curb your hunger and stay away from fatty and/or carb-laden foods. Continue to tone the muscles with exercise. What got you there in the first place will continue to work. But variation is important. If you haven't already used a workout ball, do so. The balancing act it makes you do will help your core to develop faster and more well-defined. I do crunches holding weights over my chest. I also do them using a medicine ball. Have someone throw it at you on your way down during crunches, catch it, and then throw it back on the way up. Consult a personal trainer to get more details on these exercises. It's important to have someone watch you to make sure you are using proper form in any of your exercises, especially new ones. You need to keep from injuring yourself as well as making the most of your time.

If you are the other body type. You need to do the things above in combination with aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise, like running or walking (in your case you need to get a higher heart rate, so running would be best) is the only way to burn fat. You don't burn any fat with anaerobic exercise like crunches or weight training. You're heart rate will go up, but not high enough and not long enough to burn enough fat for your goal.

You may also want to visit a fitness spa or somewhere that has the equipment for a body composition test. Depending on your body type, you will need a body fat percentage around 12% for the kind of results you are looking for. To tell you the truth, this low a percentage may not be very healthy long-term. I do like the way Adriana Lima looks, but she won't look that way forever.
But, once you know where you are at, it's much easier to get where you are going.

Good luck.

Seems to me that working out at home is not likely to be enough. I would imagine you'd have to spend an hour doing weights at the gym everyday (plus aerobics) to get that muscular, lean body look. They are all quite attractive. Of course, it is largely their genes that make them look that way, regardless of their workout.

Well, if you do sit ups and crunches regularly you could add this machine called Red, which is more of a twisting motion. I saw this advertised and I think it may be good for the waist. Also a low fat diet will help you. Good luck!
