Is Barack Obama black?...there seems to be no consensus on this.

What are you talking about "no consensus"? Yes he's black. Not that it should matter. His father was from Africa (Kenya, specifically) and his mother is a white woman from Kansas. He grew up mostly in Hawaii with his grandparents but he did live for a few years in the Phiippines when his mother remarried.

For all purposes, yes he is. His father is from Kenya (a doctor I think), and his mother is a white woman from the mid-west (I think Kansas, and she's a lawyer or something like that). A lot of mixed folk are kinda on the light side, but I guess them 'real brotha' genes are strong.

TSull ... Well, in my view, it's a bunch of bunk and I'll tell you why.
The way I see it, it should go like this: If one drop of black blood can make you black, then it only makes sense that one drop of white blood can make you white.
This being the case, it's entirely up to Senator Obama. However, it shouldn't really matter, of course.

I wonder why his race is such a big issue for some people. I'm more concerned about his competence and ability to lead. . . which I haven't made up my mind about yet.
