for those of you that don't know LDS = Latter Day Saints

Better known as a Mormon (although some view that as a derogatory term)

And my answer to the question would be not yet. I think that the there are two scenarios in which the Republicans can win the next election. #1) have a candidate that does not seem overly religious, or #2) hope that Hillary is running for the democrats. This is because an overly religious candidate will make moderates scared because they do not like Bush in most cases, except if Hillary is running because she already scares many moderates and is hated by so many people (it would be like Cheney running for the republicans, great supporters on the conservative side but moderates and liberals hate him)

No, not now or ever. I have nothing at all against LDS members as individuals, but an LDS president would find it impossible, in my opinion, to separate his/her non-mainstream religious beliefs from his job. I don't think the public would ever vote in an LDS president for that reason.

For me, being an active LDS person, I would say yes, but I think that some liberal will try to make him look bad just because he is lds. But Romney is from here in Utah, but he is no way a conservative republican, he is barely a republican at best. he changes his mind like people change underwear. he votes and follows most on polls and popular votes, which is nothing more that pure liberalism.......

Some of us have been for years, & more of us are now.. As far as the country at large, I don't think the question can be answered. Even after the 08 elections, we may still not know since a lot will depend who is running. This election cycle, the question is, "Is the country ready for Hillary to be President?", since no one else is running. Unless, of course, both Cheney & Bush are impeached.

Goodness, were you talking about the Mormon, Mitt Romney? I think Hillary has a better chance.

BTW. Romney was from Michigan. His father was our governor for a few years, unfortunately.

What's wrong with an LDS? They're just like a Catholic, or any other person of faith. Not all LDS are polygamists. In fact, most are not.

This answer goes for somebody from any religion:

As long as they don't bring their religious beliefs into their job. They can have morals and such but no extreme single-religion minded stuff. When JFK came into precidency no one before him had been Catholic and he captured the heart of americans all across the country so if your LDS canidate has taken note of his achievments then America should be ready for it...

First, tell about this man or woman. There is more to any person than three letters from the alphabet.

What does that have to do with anything. I think we need one. The protestant ones weren't able to clear things up for us.
