Try wadi, a physical feature of the desert. Or xeriscape, using desert plants in their natural environment in a garden. Or vermilion, the color of the sun/sky during a dust storm. Check what the dictionary says, I'm just paraphrasing.

What about something generic like "weather" for "W." Every part of the world has its own weather, so you should be able to get away with that one.
For "X" I have seen other alphabet projects using something that really starts with Ex, but since "e" is silent, it might work. Is there something "excellent" that you might be able to use?
For "V" could you use a word like "victor" or "victory"? I don't know much about that area of the world, but one of the countries in the area must have been a victor in some conflict.

A waqf (Arabic: وقف, plural اوقاف, awqāf; Turkish: vakıf) is an inalienable religious endowment in Islam, typically devoting a building or plot of land for Muslim religious or charitable purposes. It is conceptually similar to the common law trust.

I don't know if you just need words or something go alone with them, so I've included some things to look up to use as examples for your ABC's.
V - Violence (honor killings, terrorism, civil war in Palestinian Territories, threat of it from/by Iran, sectarian violence in Iraq)
W - War (Iran/Iraq War, Gulf Wars, the many wars when Israel's neighbors attacked her...)
X - Xenophobia (and its relation to: terrorism, tourism, economics)

Xenophobia is fear of someone who is different, or another culture.
You could use that to express how people in the Middle East feel about us, or vice versa.
