Airstones are near useless. What contributes to oxygen in the tank is disruption of the surface of the water, and water circulation. Any filter will do this. (So will a bubbler, but a filter also provides a place to bacteria to break down nitrites, and ammonia.) Also your tank doesn't need nearly as much oxygen as you think it does.

It depends if you have a power head in your tank. If you do than you don't need an air stone. But if you don't have a power head than I would get a air stone it will greatly increase the amount of oxygen and it will also help out with gas exchange.

If you have powerful jets that create air bubbles from your under gravel and hanging filters, I'd say no. Usually the high pressure water filters do the trick in aerating water.

No, not at all. As long as the filter is causing motion on the surface of the water it will be fine without an airstone.
