I really don't think they could. I'm a huge fan of the book and the original movie. Even with hollywood excelling as much as they do now, i think the've passed the the point of doing movies placed in the 50's or around that time. When we reached 2000, i think that we had forever gottten past old looking movies and moved into high tech mode and we ca't switch back. What's Your Opinion???

they weren't saying anything about it, i just thought about it. hollywood hasn't thrown anything yet, but with the way they're running out of ideas, they njust might.

I don't think they could, sorry. The movie was casted wonderfully. C. Thomas Howell was good as the unsure of himself Ponyboy, Patrick Swayze as the over protective brother, Matt Dillion as the rebellious Dallas. It was simplistic, gritty, rough mirroring the feel of the book and the era. Not hyped up on cgi graphics, or Hollywood's "top hot" actors. While Hollywood has on the occasion made a period piece, they don't tend to fare well on the big screen. I doubt Hollywood could reproduce that if they tried, maybe possibly if it was some undiscovered indie director.

I hated the movie......it was stone acting, everything straight out of the book. Hollywood could easily pull of a new outsiders movie, but cant replace some classic actors in that movie, like patrick swayze. But again, the book was good, but the movie, kinda sucked

Yes I think they could because the book is so ambiguous and I love the book. If they do make a new movie which they should They should have great characters like the book and first movie.

I loved the outsiders! I don't think they could recreate a classic!
Natures first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold
her early leafs a flower
but only so an hour
so leaf subsides to leaf and Eden sank in grief
so dawn goes down to day
nothing gold can stay

You can't make another Outsiders, that movie is great and can't be upstaged by a modern remake....They already tried to make a film kind of on the same basis in 2002 "Deuces Wild" and well, it just didn't work.

i think they would make it too slick and corny. it was so good bc those boys were rough and not so stylized like they are now. what a great book and movie. loved em as a kid. did you hear that they are remaking it or are just throwing out the topic for discussion?

All I need for that movie is a lot of young actors. It will happen before too long.
