I am trying to find information about a family I watched on ABC's Wifeswap tonight. Would anyone happen to know where I can find out if DCFS got involved with these people? I sure hope so, but I'd feel alot better if I knew for sure. Even if feeding your children nothing but raw foods (yes, even meats) isn't illegal, surely keeping your children from any kind of school is against the law, right? If you know of where I might be able to find info on this, please let me know.
Thanks!
Txheart

PS - Have I heard of home schooling? Yes, did you notice the significance of the way I phrased what these parents are doing? I am pretty sure I stipulated any kind of schooling (I figured that would include home schooling, online tutoring, having pigs come in and teach or whatever). When the parents say that they don't "believe" in school (think the three R's) because people dont use what they learn in school, I think DCFS needs to step in. IMO, but this is my question, so I get to give my opinion. LoL

I don't know where you can get info on the family but I too think someone should check them out. I think that whole family is brainwashed by the dad. He seems to be very controlling but they can't see that. It's one thing to go back to nature but eating raw meat is an extreme. His "nervous breakdown" was an act for tv it seemed to me, it looked like he was forcing the tears to come. It didn't sound like the kids were being home schooled, not in the way normal home schooling is done. All they do is work all day. You heard the son, his math for the day is counting how many eggs he has. Just sad but it's the life they know and the life they seem to want.

I had a co-worker who did some goofy home schooling like this, mostly the kids baked bread all day long. I think all they need to take is some basic skills tests, but could totally cheat. Other than the schooling, I dont think DCFS is needed. That raw food stuff is actually getting quite popular. Plus they do have a point on the chemicals - to an extent.
