I've never seen an image of the Grim Reaper holding a book, typically he's been associated with a large scythe, but no book. And the links you posted, are all the exact same picture, just different size and colors. D'oh... Photoshop.

The Grim Reaper is also called the Harvester of souls also Death.
so the book he/her is holding is his/her copy of the book of life .Just as Jesus holds a small copy of the Creators book of life for Christians.
now I might catch some flack. For pagans It would be nearly the same but written by the Crone that measures the cord of peoples lives while weaving the tapestry of life.

I have never seen a grim reaper holding a book but I'm going to assume its a 'death list'. I doubt its a book any bookstores will hold.

Never seen him reading! But my best guess is it's supposed to be the Necronomicon (hopefully spelled right), which is a fictional dark-ish book on Occult matters.

Well if someone has depicted him with a book you can guarantee it's not a Stephen King novel..It must be the book with the names of the people he is reaping... Better hope your name's not in it ......

I think it's a list of names of people he'll visit.

i believe it's a list of people and when their time is up, so he knows when to collect them
