The Aleutian Islands are located in North America and are a part of the state of Alaska of the United States. The Aleutian Islands follow mostly along a line that is mostly west southwest of the Alaska Peninsula, which juts southwestward from the southern portion of Alaska.

The largest islands in the Aleutian Islands are: Unimak Island, Unalaska Island, Umnak Island, Atka Island, Adak Island, and Attu Island. Probably the most well-known island in Alaska is Kodiak Island. This is not a part of the Aleutian Islands, but is located southeast of the Alaska Peninsula, separated from it by the Shelikof Strait.
