I think he's one of those self-loathing, paranoid closet queens who can't accept being gay so they lash out at other gay people. He's also an idiot. When you're a celebrity or in the public eye and your income depends on revenue from the public it's very stupid to denigrate a segment of the population. There's basketball fans who are gay or who have gay friends or family members. They may choose to stop supporting the team. The NBA is not happy with Hardaway. What's so admirable about being "honest" and admitting you hate people? Hitler admitted he hated Jewish people. Should we give him an award?

I think that hate was a strong word and it did not need to go that far, but no one gets bent out of shape when someone says "I hate Christians" - there seem to be some groups out there that it is just okay to hate and that is not cool- if those people have a right to express their opinion, no matter how narrow minded and ignorant, so does Tim Hardaway.
I do however agree that heterosexual people have every right to demand a seperate locker room/ changing area than homosexuals- just as men and women have seperate changing areas for obvious reasons- I stronglly feel those same reasons apply and are just as valid and a man or woman has the right to be in an environment where they do not have to be concerned about sexual privacy.
I don't hate homosexuals- I do however strongly disagree with their lifestyle and choices, does that make me a homophobe- NO - I am not afraid of them, does it make me hateful- NO that is just narrowminded ignorance. I am sure there are things about my life that my closest friends disagree with- they still love and treat me with dignity and respect- nothing less than I would treat any other person no matter what choices they make- I can still have and freely express my opinions about the homosexual lifestyle.
As it is most of America is being lied to and deceived about the realities of this lifestyle- the day will come when the truth of it will be exposed- I don't hate those that are living this life- I am sorry that they feel they have to live it and I hurt for them the consequences they will reap because of it.

I have never understood why we are supposed to treat homosexuality as being something 'special'. The very idea of using the word 'gay' as some kind of euphemism for this highly dysfunctional behavior boggles my mind. Mr. Hardaway's comments should be immortalized and placed on bumper stickers and T-shirts. I'm sure that whoever does that would make a lot of money!

Well, I didn't hear his comments but it really doesn't matter if what he said was for or against gay people. Thing is, he has a right to say whatever he wants. I know it won't sit well with a lot of people but part of your rights as a citizen here is that you have the freedom of speech. You should be allowed to say anything you want and you shouldn't be forced to apologize, no matter what you say. Hey, you can say something that 99.9% of Americans totally disagree with and it's your right. Just like it's our right to say we disagree. You also have the right to PEACEFUL protest. I have heard various people being forced to apologize on various topics and even when those topics made me angry, I still didn't think they should have had to apologize. If you don't like freedom of speech, you shouldn't live here.

it quite is one element to have your opinion and exhibit it in a suitable way. he's totally entitled to him opinion, however the way he went approximately it replaced into so so so incorrect. Hate is a robust be conscious and boy did he use it. for my section i don't accept as true with him. What somebody does of their own existence isn't my enterprise as long because it quite is not inflicting harm to themselves or somebody else (i.e. spousal/toddler abuse, substance abuse). I performed activities in severe college and later on found out that girls i replaced into teammates with have been gay or bisexual. replaced into I questioning the great time in the event that they have been checking me out? No. by using fact I knew we've been there to play ball and that replaced into that. i think of it quite is ignorant and close-minded to make a assertion like that. i'm particular Hardaway could've been tremendously ticked had one in each and every of his teammates been racist and made a remark that he refused to gown in the comparable locker room as an African-American individual. yet i assume to a pair people who in simple terms does not evaluate. To me, it quite isn't any diverse then being racist. it quite is in simple terms yet another style of hate.

I agree with the consensus among the sports commentators. He was within his First Amendment Rights to say he had no use for them, he would not play with them, he was afraid of them (even saying he was "homophobic").
He went beyond the scope of expressing his rights when he said he "hated" them. This does not just convey a prejudice, but shows his own weakness and possibility of doing harm if provoked and presented with the opportunity.

"I hate gays," ... Wow, how profound. I might not agree with a persons lifestyle, but I do know that everyone deserves to be respected. So what good is honesty when it completely lacks any kind of true substance. Think then speak, well in this case, think, then write it down, then take match, then light it, stick comments on flame, and watch your honesty go up in smoke, cause we can all do without that kind of honesty.

Everybody's entitled to an opinion but he is so high profile that he'll be eating his words for years. That's probably something he'll never live down.
