the british left over after the Revolutionary war hated America because they thought there was too much freedom. not enough government control. was the red scare pointless? was the cold war pointless? seems like it. the reason europe hates america is because america is the best example of a "capitalist" society, and they see that it works better than socialism does for them. yet they sit in their cafe's talking about the evil rich capitalists. yes, those evil rich like bill gates who started the Gates foundation that has given over $30 billion to people around the world, including those in socialist nations. the money that the socialists george soros and hillary clinton was made in a capitalist society. the same place where nancy pelosi and bill clinton earned their fortunes.

There are certain social programs that have been in place since the 30's and Americans take them for granted. Without socialism, you wouldn't have social security or medicare. This country would be a mess without those programs. It is time to socialize all medical care. Capitalism doesn't work for most people. That is why 1% of the population owns over 40% of the wealth and the gap betwen the rich and the poor is widening.

Capitalism will not last in America because people have figured out how to vote themselves money from the government which is taking away the incentive to work. Either America will wake up or be gone.

Europe sucks I would much rather live in a land of opportunity where a boy from the trailer park can become the Financial Controller of an 80 million dollar company (like myself) then one where housing is subsidized and youths riot in the streets due to not having unemployment benefits.

Answerman, that IS socialism. Redistributing wealth to make everything fair is the most fundamental tenet of socialism.

I personally detest socialism -- it is counter-productive and serves only to increase the amount of control government has over everyday life while decreasing life's quality. However, I see many measures coming into action today from those who openly speak out against socialism that are slowly but surely leading us down that very same road. The only way to stop it is for people to begin thinking, a habit in which far too few partake today.

Socialist ideology is an enemy to American ideology. Socialists reject individual Rights and consider each individual to be defined by their function under their State masters. This is exactly the opposite of America's principles.

Therefore, by definition, no American wants Socialism.

No, I do not think that America wants socialism, however to much money has shifted to the top 5% of the population, something needs to be done to redistribute the wealth or the middle class will be no more and they are the backbone of the country.
