the entire seed head, like the tuft on the top of the wheat stalk would be the fruit, the "grain" itself is a seed. look at it this way:

if you a a single pea, out of the pod, you would be eating a seed, but if you at the pea AND the pod together you would be eating the fruit of the pea plant. does this make sense?
