My only caution to you is that they are be very complex to build and things can go wrong easily. It would take a lot of planning and you might not have a lot of time to set it up for the talent show. Also, will you need to be close up in order for people to see it?

It's a very impressive idea, but as many people have proved, getting a device like that to preform perfect takes a lot of testing. I think it will be awesome. Especially with all the distracting gadgets we have now and days that don't take much to opperate. Make it flashy people still like 'shiny' things.

theyre called rube goldberg machines. make sure you do a lot of planning and test runs, i made one for an art class and you wouldnt believe some of the complications. good luck!
