Who is the smartest president, really?

Maybe one of the Roosevelts or Monroe?

That's not as easy to answer as it sounds. During America's history there have been very smart men that have become President but each one was smart for his era & for different reasons by which we might judge him today.
Judging by only recent Presidents, Bill Clinton had the greatest mind, far more intelligent than others who served during the 20th century. But as with most intelligent people he had some faults that did not serve him well in Office.

Roosevelt --> New Deal, Yalta Conference and United Nations.

But, there are different ways to measure "smartness."
IQ? Education? Street smartness? Military genius? etc.

Most intelligent may not make the best president. Some geniuses are poor leaders. Some great leaders have average intelligence.

Overall, my vote goes to Jefferson and Clinton.

Well, we only have one President .. but if you meant the smartest President of all time - that would be Ronald Reagan.

Thomas Jefferson, I think, but since not all have been tested it's hard to say, Now Clinton was the slickest, JFK and FDR were both very smart, but i'll have to fo with Jefferson
