Which Brodway Play?

Ok, so for my moms brithday, my dad's taking the whole family out to New York to see a Brodway play; but we don't know which one to see. I've never been to one, let alone am able to choose one. So the two choices I had in mind were Hairspray or Mama Mia. If you could tell me what either were about, and maybe what the best choice was that'd be great. We aren't picky, and accually like comedies alot, so don't worry about the wrong choice. Thank you in advanced for my mom's B-day gift!

If you can get tix, go so Pirate Queen - it was really good in Chicago. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with Mamma Mia.
