Plot is the action of the story. It's the sequence of events in the book.

For example:
1. boy meets girl
2. boy flirts
3. girl falls for boy
4. girl and boy start dating
5. girl and boy get engaged
6. girl and boy get married

Does that make sense?

The word, plot, means plan. It is the plan for the story. It answers the question: What happened?

So boy bumps into girl. = Rising Action
Boy calls girl.= Next step
Girl calls boy back. =Furthers the action of the story
Boy and girl fight. =High point of the story or climax.
Boy and girl make up. =Falling action.
Boy and girl are friends. = the end.

The above is a simple plot.

Hope this helps.

Plot is just another word for the story line.

For example, for Goldilocks and three bears it might be something like: A little girl breaks into the house of three bears while they are away. She begins to test their, food, furniture etc. when they come home.

Don't give away the end in the plot either.
