A Tivo Digital Video Recorder is a separate box and works with or without cable. Cable companies now have their own branded DVRs included in some cable boxes. They have many of the same features as Tivo, but are not made by the company.

I assume you mean use TIVO with cable. Yes you can.

If you get a DVR through your cable company it will not be a TIVO.

yes, COX cable can provide a Digital Recording Device if not TiVO itself.
